The aerial you will need to receive freeview transmissions is dependant on your location and the strength of the digital signal being received.
Over the next few years all analogue TV transmisions will be switching to digital, meaning the only way to watch terrestrial TV will be through a Freeview set top box or with a Freeview integrated digital television. If you live in an area with a good digital reception you might get a few channels with your current TV aerial, more than likely though, you will need to upgrade your aerial to one designed for digital TV reception.
